Today, Thursday, May 29, Butler Hospital and SEIU 1199 NE reconvened for negotiations. Once again, despite 5 hours of preparation, the Union’s proposal made no movement on healthcare or retirement, despite demanding wage increases that average 25% over only 18 months.
While negotiations were still in progress, we were informed SEIU 1199 NE sent a letter to legislators urging them to join a planned picket on Friday, May 30, leading us to conclude that they had no intentions of attempting to reach an agreement today.
Through the federal mediator, the sides mutually agreed to seek new dates for future negotiations. We continue to urge SEIU 1199 NE to engage in good-faith negotiations so we can reach a resolution that refocuses our shared commitment on what matters most—our patients and the dedicated professionals who care for them.
As we have done throughout this process, we welcome employees back to work at any time.
